Looking for a relaxing bath soak with an old fashioned feel? This DIY honey and lavender milk bath recipe is super easy to make and incredible for the skin.
Milk baths are a nice change from your typical bath salts. DIY milk baths are just as easy and inexpensive to make, but have an old-fashioned and cozy feel to them.
Milk and honey are both incredible for the skin, and have been used to care for the skin for centuries. It’s reported that Cleopatra used to bathe in milk and honey, and she was renowned for her beauty.
Milk contains lactic acid and proteins that help soften the skin and leave it feeling super smooth.
And honey… well, it does just about everything! It’s soothing, smoothing, softening, cleansing, healing, hydrating — the list goes on and on.
This DIY honey and lavender milk bath recipe is one of my favorites. It smells sweet and is so soothing. Just what you need to relax.

DIY Lavender Honey DIY Milk Bath Recipe
Because we’re using both powdered milk and powdered honey, this milk bath will last on your
bathroom shelf for months. Packaged up in a mason jar, tied with a ribbon and a wooden scoop, it makes an adorable gift. (It’s all about the scoop, I tell you!)
If you have a large health food store in your area, you should have no trouble finding the ingredients
for this recipe. Otherwise, you can find the ingredients online.
Here’s what you’ll need:
3/4 cup powdered milk
1/4 cup honey powder
10-20 drops lavender essential oil (depending on how strong you’d like your fragrance. Experiment and see what you like.)
1 tablespoon dried lavender buds (optional)
Place the powdered milk and honey powder into a blender. Blend briefly until the powder is smooth. If you don’t have a blender, you can also mix by hand. It’s easiest to use a fork, so you can crush any clumps.
Add the lavender essential oil, drop by drop, into the milk and honey mixture. Blend for at least 30 seconds, to make sure the essential oil is thoroughly mixed into the bath milk. There shouldn’t be any clumps. If mixing by hand, whisk quickly and thoroughly while adding the essential oil.
Something like the Magic Bullet works great for recipes like this. We got one for Christmas a few years back and it’s fabulous for making all sorts of skin care concoctions. Highly recommended!
Pour the milk and honey mixture into a bowl and stir in the lavender buds in by hand.
Remember, though, that these buds will be floating in your bathtub. I think it looks pretty, but if the thought of sharing your bath water with dried herbs doesn’t sound appealing, you can leave them out.
Add about 1/4 cup bath milk to running bath water. Soak for at least 20 minutes.
About 4 baths
This bath milk will last on your bathroom shelf for 12 months.
